Annual Student Symposium offers the opportunity for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Athletic Training students to learn about clinical concepts and treatment techniques. Students will be able to learn about different clinical knowledge tools that they can use during their clinicals.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

Created in conjunction with Professional’s Clinical Affiliation Program the Annual Student Symposium offers the opportunity for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Athletic Training students to learn about current clinical concepts and treatment techniques. Students will be able to learn about different clinical knowledge tools that they can utilize during their clinical affiliations as well as in the professional setting when they graduate and head out into clinical practice.

It is Professional Seminars' goal to provide quality continuing education programs for all current as well as future rehabilitation professionals.  The topics featured in this year’s symposium include relevant information on functional progressions for the lower extremity, upper extremity and core as well as an introduction to hand therapy and other relevant topics.

Who should attend? Physical Therapy/Physical Therapist Assistant Students, Athletic Training Students, Occupational Therapy Students and other interested health care professionals.

Admission to the Student Symposium is FREE for all current PT, PTA, OT, OTA and AT students.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this course, the participants will learn how to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the healing continuum and its implications on rehabilitation.
  • Review the evidence behind common upper extremity exercises.
  • Develop evidence-based intervention strategies and progressions for common Upper Extremity impairments.
  • Understand and demonstrate a variety of lower extremity functional progressions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of progressive load and adaptation to imposed demands.

CEU INFORMATION

Athletic Trainers: Professional Seminars is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for the BOC-certified Athletic Trainers. This program has been approved for a maximum of 3.5 units of Category A continuing education.

New York Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants: Professional Seminars is recognized as an approved provider of Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant continuing education by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Physical Therapy. Full attendance at this Seminar qualifies for 4.2 contact hours in NY.
