ABOUT THE EVENT:

We are excited to announce that Dr Willy Gonzalez of Rothman Orthopedics will be presenting to the staff of Professional Physical Therapy.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Refresh on Biomechanics of a running stride

2. Common Injuries and what research suggests based on running style and biomechanical changes

3. Running and how footwear can play a role

4. Running style and injury rates, does your foot-strike predispose you to injury?

SPEAKER BIO:

Dr. Gonzalez is a board certified, fellowship trained sports medicine physician.  He obtained his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and followed with a residency in Family Medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network Family Medicine.  There, he led as Chief Resident and was awarded the Resident Educator of the Year Award.  

Dr. Gonzalez followed with a fellowship in Non-Operative Sports Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.  During this time, he served as Assistant Team Physician for high school, collegiate and professional teams including the Philadelphia Phillies and Villanova University.  He also participated and cared for MLB (Major League Baseball) prospects during the 2021 International Combine.  

Dr. Gonzalez is committed to research and education and has presented at a national level through AMSSM (American Medical Society for Sports Medicine) pertaining to adolescent and collegiate athlete mental health and concussion management.  His clinical interests include degenerative conditions of the joints, tendons, muscles, and ligaments, as well as overhead throwing athletes, sports related concussion management, running athletes, dance medicine and the overall comprehensive health of physical athletes.  He is trained in ultrasound guided procedures for tendinopathies and chronic degenerative conditions.  His experience in family medicine trained him to have a comprehensive approach to patient care allowing him to treat patients.  He is also fluent in Spanish allowing him to better accommodate our Spanish speaking community.
