This 1-day (8 hour) workshop provides a BFR Training Rehab Specialist Certification upon successful completion and passing of a written examination at the end of the workshop.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this course, the practitioner will:

 

  • Discuss importance of muscle protein synthesis, recruitment of type 2 muscle fibers within the injured, post-operative, elderly and athletic populations

  • Evaluate the benefits of BFR training with respect to the early post-operative and injury periods using passive and neuromuscular stimulation approaches

  • Discuss BFR aerobic exercise in clinical practice within injured, post-operative, elderly and athletic populations and how it may enhance physiological processes thought to enhance aerobic capacity and/or performance

  • Discuss BFR resistance exercise in clinical practice within injured, post-operative, elderly and athletic populations and how it may enhance physiological processes thought to enhance muscle mass, strength and/or performance

  • Demonstrate assessment of LOP using manual and automatic cuff technologies

  • Discuss differences between different cuff technologies and potentialbenefits/limitations to their use

  • Discuss case studies and design/demonstrate a BFR treatment plan of care

CEU INFORMATION

New York Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants: Professional Seminars is recognized as an approved provider of Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant continuing education by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Physical Therapy. 12:00-12:30pm – Pillar 2 – Cardiovascular Training & Pillar 3- Resistance Training Programming Lecture

12:30-1:30pm – Lunch

1:30-2:30pm - Lab II – Cardiovascular (Pillar II) & Resistance Training (Pillar III) Applications

2:30-3:00pm – “2 Case Studies – Amber and Mark” Lecture / Group Discussion

3:00-4:00pm - Lab III – Clinical Case Group Discussions (4 Cases / 15 minutes each)

4:00-4:30pm – Pillar 4 – Return to Sport Applications & Programming Lecture

4:30-5:00pm – Review of the Latest Peer-Reviewed, Evidence-Based Research on BFR and its Implications for the Future Lecture

Nicholas Rolnick, MS, PT, CSCS

Nick Rolnick, AKA The Human Performance Mechanic is a world-class Physical Therapist & Performance Enhancement Specialist and is quickly establishing a reputation as a leading international authority in Blood Flow Restriction.

 

He has had an interest in sports and performance from his days as captain of his college baseball team at Franklin & Marshall, where he achieved all-conference honors, to his more recent pursuits as a men’s physique competitor. Since graduating with an M.S. in Health Promotion Management from American University, Nick realized his love for fitness with his passion to help others by earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Columbia University with honors.

 

Nick teaches Kinesiology I & II in the MS Applied Exercise Science Program at Concordia University, Chicago and undergraduate Kinesiology at Lehmann College, Bronx NY.

He helped found THE BFR PROS to further his mission of making the world a better place by helping people get back to the activities they love as quickly as possible and experiencing the joy of pain-free movement™ through evidence-based therapies like BFR-Blood Flow Restriction!

 

Nick teaches BFR Workshops across Europe including, France, Switzerland, Belgium & Italy. The demand for his expertise as a Speaker in BFR (Blood Flow Restriction) continues to grow in places such as London , Paris and The NSCA 2020 National Conference in Las Vegas (July 2020).

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

Cancellations received at least five (5) business days before the event are refundable, less a $50.00 administrative charge per registrant. There will be no refund for cancellations received later. Please note: If you register and do not attend, you are still responsible for full payment. The expense of continuing education, when taken to maintain and improve professional skills, may be tax deductible. Please contact your accountant for complete details. For courses cancelled by Professional Seminars Ltd. participants have the option to attend a rescheduled date or receive a full refund of the registration cost.
