Description
This 9-week certification program is designed for physical therapists and rehab professionals to master shoulder pathology and evidence-based treatment. Starting with foundational anatomy and clinical reasoning, the curriculum follows a systematic classification-based approach focusing on mobility deficits, movement coordination, and power deficits. Participants will engage in hands-on clinical training and navigate complex post-operative protocols and arthroplasty management. The program concludes with a comprehensive examination, ensuring clinicians are equipped with the technical interpretation and practical skills required for advanced shoulder care in a clinical setting. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to: • Identify key anatomical, biomechanical, and movement system impairments contributing to knee pain and dysfunction across degenerative, traumatic, and post-surgical conditions. • Select appropriate examination procedures, including special tests, movement analysis, and manual assessment techniques, based on the patient’s diagnosis, tissue status, and stage of healing. • Integrate clinical reasoning, patient presentation, and objective findings to determine appropriate progression, regression, referral, or modification of treatment strategies across complex shoulder presentations. • Differentiate shoulder conditions using an impairment-based classification framework consistent with current Orthopedic Section Clinical Practice Guidelines, including shoulder pain with mobility deficits, muscle power deficits, movement coordination impairments, and referred or radiating pain presentations. • Apply current evidence and Clinical Practice Guidelines to the non-operative and post-operative management of common shoulder conditions, including adhesive capsulitis, subacromial pain syndrome, rotator cuff related shoulder pain, instability, labral pathology, and shoulder arthroplasty.
