SPEAKER BIO:

Dr. Ariana Lott, MD, As an orthopedic surgeon at NYU Langone, I am committed to providing care that helps individuals return to the activities they enjoy. My background as a ballet dancer gives me a unique perspective on the physical demands placed on athletes and fuels my passion for sports injuries and their prevention. I am dedicated to offering knowledgeable and compassionate care, ensuring that patients receive the best possible treatment tailored to their needs.

I specialize in sports medicine, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries. My expertise includes minimally invasive and advanced open surgeries of the shoulder, hip, and knee. However, most of my patients have symptoms that can be treated without surgery. I will work with you to make a precise diagnosis and then take time to outline your non-operative and operative treatment options.

My approach emphasizes clear communication and patient education, allowing you to make an informed decision about your treatment options so you can achieve your personal objectives, whether they be returning to competitive sports or enjoying daily activities without pain. Non-operative treatments can include medication, physical therapy, injections, and biologic treatments. I also work closely with NYU Langone’s skilled physical therapists and other specialists to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.

I completed my residency at NYU Langone as an executive chief resident followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. There, I served as a member of the medical staff for the Pittsburgh Steelers and as an assistant team physician for the University of Pittsburgh football and gymnastics teams. I also trained in hip arthroscopy in France and Switzerland. I have published more than 50 papers on sports-related hip pathology, complex knee injuries, and dance-specific injuries.

My passion for medicine was sparked by the support and care of dedicated physicians who helped me during my youth as an athlete. This experience drives my commitment to providing the same level of care and support to my patients.
