ABOUT THE EVENT:

We are excited to announce that Dr. Philip Zaneteas will be presenting on the Clinical Applications of Electrodiagnostic Testing (EMG). This comprehensive lecture delves into the critical role of electrodiagnostic testing (EMG) in diagnosing various neuromuscular conditions. Participants will engage in an in-depth review of common EMG findings associated with peripheral neuropathies, radiculopathies, polyneuropathies, and myopathies. Additionally, the lecture will facilitate a discussion on the advantages and limitations of EMG in comparison to imaging-based diagnostic tools, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of current practices.


COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in electrodiagnostic testing. The session will include case studies, interactive discussions, and opportunities for Q&A to ensure participants can apply the knowledge gained in their clinical practice.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  1. Explain the diagnostic role of electrodiagnostic testing (EMG) in the evaluation of neuromuscular and peripheral nerve disorders.

  2. Identify and differentiate common electrodiagnostic findings associated with peripheral neuropathies and radiculopathies.

  3. Describe normal versus abnormal EMG findings, including those seen in polyneuropathies and myopathies.

  4. Evaluate the advantages and limitations of EMG in comparison with other diagnostic tools such as MRI, CT, and X‑ray imaging.


SPEAKER BIO:


Dr. Philip Zaneteas, MD
Dr. Philip Zaneteas, MD

Dr. Philip Zaneteas is a Board-Certified physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, and Neuromuscular Medicine. He has served as the AANEM’s Indiana state liaison, coordinating EMG policies and procedures with insurance providers and our state and federal representatives.

He served as Medical Director of the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana from 1997-2010, and was the Associate Medical Director of the Kokomo Rehabilitation Hospital from 1992-1997.

After graduating from New York Medical College, Dr. Zaneteas received his internship training at the New York University Medical Center and residency training at the Rusk Institute in New York City. He then completed dual fellowships at Michigan State University in Electrodiagnostic Medicine under Dr. Michael Andary and in Sports Medicine with Dr. Douglas McKeag. He also has a Ph.D. in Government from Cornell University.

Dr. Zaneteas is an avid workout enthusiast, including Tae Kwon Do, running and weight training.
