We kicked off the new year with a hands-on focus at our latest Hand Therapy Splinting Course A in Whitestone, NY. On Saturday, January 10th, therapists gathered for an intensive morning dedicated to mastering the art and science of splint fabrication.

Whether attendees were just starting their journey in hand therapy or looking to refine complex techniques, the energy in the room was focused on one thing: clinical excellence.
A Dual-Track Experience
To ensure every clinician got exactly what they needed, we ran two concurrent sessions:
1. The Beginner Session: Building a Strong Foundation Designed for therapists with less than two years of experience, this track focused on the essentials. We covered anatomical landmarks, material handling, and the fabrication of core splints, including:
Hand/forearm-based thumb spicas.
Wrist cock-ups.
Ulnar gutter splints for 5th metacarpal protection.
2. The Advanced Session: Tackling Complex Cases For our seasoned therapists, we dove into high-level fabrication logic. Participants challenged themselves with:
Muenster splints vs. posterior elbow splints.
Dynamic radial nerve palsy splints incorporating outriggers.
Static progressive designs for stiff joints to maximize range of motion.
What The Attendees Are Saying
The feedback from the course has been incredible. The common theme? The value of hands-on practice and expert mentorship.
Here is what some of our participants took away from the day:

Confidence in Fabrication "This was a very informative course with a lot of hands-on experience that helped me gain more confidence in fabricating splints." — Beginner Session Attendee

Real-World Application "I improved my ability to fabricate and review the effectiveness of splints... [I loved] the hands-on help and real tips." — Advanced Session Attendee

Expert Instruction "The instructors did an amazing job... and taught me a lot about tips and tricks behind the splints that we fabricated. They were super helpful and quick to step in to fix what I was doing wrong." — Beginner Session Attendee
Why "Hands-On" Matters
One of the biggest takeaways from the feedback was the importance of practicing on live subjects in a low-pressure environment. As one attendee noted, "Being able to splint on someone without a disability allowed me to be more comfortable with creating the splints."
This bridge between theory and practice is exactly what Professional Seminars aims to provide.
